We initiated the "European CAxMan Additive Manufacturing Road Tour (CAM-RT)“ to underpin the customer development process.

Five workshops are taking place during March and August in five different countries.

The workshops focus on addressing SMEs that are new to this topic, beginners in additive manufacturing, or interested in boosting their own AM processes.

CAxMan Road Tour Workshop in Darmstadt

The last stop of the five European CAxMan Road Tour Workshops was in Darmstadt, Germany at August 28th, 2018.

The motivation behind the Road Tour workshops was to underpin the customer development process and to address SMEs that are new to and beginners in Additive Manufacturing (AM) or people interested in boosting their AM processes. The German workshop has been concentrated on the topic of Additive Manufacturing - new demands for the engineering process. Most of the participants have been from the local industry, from the network of the local DIHs or Competence Centres, from industrial clusters or the chamber of Industry and Commerce. The organization of the workshop was supported by clesgo GmbH.

The workshop presented the latest requirements and developments in the application area of AM, also in terms of new hardware. The presentations of the invited speakers had its focus on industrial requirements for AM, challenges for SMEs, state-of-the-art concerning multi material for 3D printing, economy of AM, the convergence of solid modelling, simulation and 3D printing as well as a talk about cloud-based engineering applications for AM.

Italy

Torino, July 2nd, 2018

The Italian stop of the CAxMan road tour was organised by STAM S.r.l. and CNR-IMATI.

The workshop was hosted by the IFIP 15th International Conference on Product Life cycle Management (plm-conference.org)on the 2nd of July 2018. Since 2003, PLM International Conference brings together researchers, developers, and end-users and aims at involving all stakeholders of the wide concept of PLM, in order to shape the future of this field and advance the science and practice of enterprise development.

The CAxMan event was opened by Prof. Stork; he engaged the whole audience with a keynote on the convergence of volumetric modelling, simulation and 3D printing.

The floor was then taken by Marco Attene and Lorenzo Tamellini (CNR-IMATI) who covered the aspects of process planning, optimization and isogeometric analysis. They were followed by Stefano Ellero from STAM, in representation of the project use cases, and Sebastian Peña Serna from clesgo, who described the CAxMan marketplace.

The audience was an eclectic mix of academic and industrial stakeholders. Around 50 people attended the keynote and about half of them followed the consortium in the thematic workshop.

France

Lyon, June 5-7, 201

The third stop of the CAxMan AM Road Tour took place at the 3D Print Exhibition (http://www.3dprint-exhibition.com/) in Lyon, France from June 5 to 7, 2018. The French stop of the road tour was organised by Missler in collaboration with SINTEF and clesgo. The 3D Print Exhibition is the prime venue in France to present the new advances in additive manufacturing technologies. This year’s edition attracted about 6000 participants and nearly 4000 visitors, all around 250 exhibitors and more than 80 conferences and workshops.

A CAxMan booth showcased the results of the project in view of improving the efficiency of additive manufacturing processes. Besides the leaflets, the poster, the banner, and the new brand video rendering the added value of CAxMan for the manufacturing industry, the booth also featured the state-of-the-art and the 3D-printed injection moulds. The visitors of the booth had the opportunity to compare the two injection moulds and to tangibly experience the benefits yielded with the CAxMan pipeline. The booth was complemented with a talk in the 3D Hub area, where the CAxMan value proposition was conveyed to an audience of about 30 people.

Spain

Bilbao, March 21-23, 2018

Our second stop of the CAxMan Additive Manufacturing Road Tour is at the Metromeet Conference http://metromeet.org/ . Visit the joint booth of Trimek and Innovalia and listen to the presentations of our colleagues from Trimek and Missler Software.

Norway

Fornebu, March 21-22, 2018

The first stop on the CAxMan road tour was the SubSea Valley Conference and Exhibition (http://ssvconference.com/) arranged in Oslo, Norway on March 21 and 22, 2018. The event attracted more than 1900 delegates and more than 100 exhibitors. It addressed the Norway Oil and Gas industry (O&G), and suppliers to O&G industry. The O&G industry, as well as suppliers, have realised the benefits of additive manufacturing (AM), and the need for better digital engineering solutions supporting AM in a product lifecycle perspective.

CAxMan was presented both at SINTEF's and Tronrud's booth in the 3DPark of the exhibition. The 3DPark also hosted a workshop on AM. In this the CAxMan partners SINTEF, Tronrud and clesgo presented the ambition and results of CAxMan. Through the exhibition and workshop CAxMan was presented in person to more than 30 delegates. Many more stopped to look at the information material without getting in direct dialogue with the Caxman representatives. The Tronrud booth was visited by the Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg.
